BEDROOM UPDATE

I'm really happy with how the main bedroom is coming along...still a few little decor pieces that I will be adding...like artwork...rug...some extra cushions..and if I can get Mr White to get cracking..an upholstered bedhead.....yes...not so little things..but still doable...I just have to exercise some patience which is very hard with this overactive creative brain of mine as I cannot wait to see something finished.
Oh we have also ordered a new mattress..An organic ergonomic mattress..which will make a difference to the look of the bed itself as it will be raised to sit nicely above the bedside tables.

The aim was to keep the style simple, minimal, more on the masculine side..but of course with a gentle feminine twist.

So anyway my lovelies....so far I have achieved this....

Still torn about wheither to paint or not paint the bedside tables?

Am wondering wheither adding a bedhead may be a little overkill?
perhaps just some artwork?

What do you think?
Any feedback or suggestions are very much welcomed.

  1. Hmmmm, I think maybe a neutral coloured padded bedhead would look really good, but I wouldn't then add in any more cushions. Your room is so tidy! Mine is such a mess. Molly dog likes to jump on the bed, so if I had cushions like that they'd be scattered everywhere in seconds!

  2. My taste is nowhere near as lovely as yours but I'll give it a go! I would leave the bedhead and hang a reasonably large artwork a little off centre on hubby's side (I presume it's his side because Miranda Kerr's book is on the other!) Perhaps something round to pick up the curves of the lamps?
But remember, this advice comes from a lady who decorates with fruit stickers so disregard if need be! LOL
It looks glorious Anna! I have to do something about our room, you've inspired me! Have a great weekend lovely x

  3. I would go with the headboard...I am in the process of making an upholstered one and am using painter's dropcloths...sounds wacky I know but I love the colour and it will fade over time and so much cheaper than linen, a headboard would add a bit of height to that wall.
We have a slightly lighter shade of bedside tables and those will be getting the magic white treatment...but then I do love white :)
    Good luck

  4. What a lovely space to snuggle up in.

I'm with Sarah on the neutral padded bedhead and also think that you could do something brave with the sidetables in a dark charcoal grey/black.

    Looking forward to the updates,

    Felicity x

  6. I'd go with a padded headboard Anna...I don't think you can ever have too much texture in a room :) But then, I can be a bit OTT!!

  10. It's looking so lovely Anna - love your cushions and think you have the perfect combination as is. A neutral coloured headboard could finish off the bed nicely, just watch it doesn't compete with any artwork you hang close to it. I am loving the beside tables as they are (I think wood adds a certain layer of warmth to a room) although I can't see what else is in your room from this shot. I do like Felicity's suggestion above of a charcoal colour too. Great job and can't wait to see more! x

  11. It's all looking gorgeous Anna! I agree, go for the bedhead! I like the drawers as they are but see how you feel once everything is done :) Love your quilt cover, where did you get that? I have been looking for something exactly like it. So crisp and fresh! xx

  13. If in doubt, leave the bedside tables for now, they add a depth against the white. I have fabric ready to reupholster our bedhead, one day, next move?? We have a gorgeous green alien drawn on it from when our son was about 2 years old, we consider it custom design as he drew a matching green alien on one of our bedside tables. Considering our 4th child is now 7, we smile at the lovely reminder that was young children running around the home. Love Posie

  14. Hey hon, love what you've done. I agree with the sentiment about adding a bedhead and then deciding what you want to do with the bedside tables colour later. And I really dig the large textured cream cushions.

  16. Hi Anna
The bedroom is definitely looking fantastic ... but I too would recommend a tall bed-head, possibly upholstered in a dark charcoal grey (like your small pillow in the front) ... and possibly paint the bedside tables a charcoal grey also.

It will keep the room feeling masculine, while the rest of your bed-linen is a lot more feminine. Plus you can always add more feminine touches like flowers, candles etc, if you feel it is looking too masculine.
    Good luck with your decision!

  17. I love everything you've done so far- looks so good. I agree with commenters above- a nice upholstered headboard would be fabulous and I think painting the side tables is a great idea- a charcoal grey and maybe a little extra gold on the hardware would be faubulous.

  19. Oh my gosh! How right are you!? Our rooms are definately sharing some inspiration :) That fabric must be what Lisa mentioned in my post, and Yes, I would love some :) But what I would happily settle for is the name/code of the fabirc. We have a Spotlight nearby (well, 50km away) so they should be able to get me some. Thanks heaps for the comments, It has been fun working on our bedroom (finally!).
